Colorado, a state that encompasses most of the Southern portion of the famous Rocky Mountains as well as the northeast part of the Colorado Plateau and the western part of the Great Plains, is considered as one of the best places for camping trips in the United States.

This state, which is also known as the “Centennial State” is popular for its wide range of plains, rivers, canyons, and most especially mountains. In fact, the great Rocky Mountains gives Colorado the highest average elevation. This state is also home to various national parks, recreational areas, national monuments, historic sites, scenic trails, national forests, and national grasslands. Needless to say, it is a haven for any camper who wants to experience nature’s beauty at its finest.

Now, if you are looking for some peace and quiet, you will probably love the sparsely populated Western slope of the Rocky Mountains. This is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Located here are the Grand Junction Campgrounds, White River National Forest, Basalt Area Campgrounds, and the Glenwood Canyon Area Campgrounds.

In these parks, you will find wonderful campsites including Eggleston Campground, Cobbett Lake, Bookcliff, Deep Lake, Coffee Pot Spring, Chapman, and the Glenwood Canyon Resort. Consider visiting the nearby attractions that include the Eggleston Lake, Grand Messa, The town of Grand Junction, Highline Lake, Mack Mesa Lake, White River Plateau, The town of Glenwood Springs, and the Deep Creek Overlook.

For those who are looking for extremely impressive views, you need to go to the central part of the Rocky mountains that include parts like Arapaho, Routt, and the White River National Forest. You can choose to camp in one of these best choices such as Railroad Bridge Campground, Collegiate Peaks Campground, Cottonwood Lake Campground,  Elk Creek Campground and RV Park and Green Ridge on Shadow Mountain Lake.
