Ask people who have gone to Colorado and most of them, if not everyone will tell you that this place would give you one of the most enjoyable camping vacations that you will never forget. With the overabundance of campgrounds, activities, and breathtaking views, any camper would have the time of his life in this part of the US. National parks, national forests, and state parks are just few of the many options you have when it comes to campgrounds.

As for the activities, you can enjoy canoeing, hiking, rock climbing, fishing, and backpacking to your heart’s content. Of course, just like with any camping trip, it is a must to be aware of essential camping tips that will help you make the most out of your vacation. Here are some practical pointers that you will find only here.

Plan your destination

Early planning would help ensure a smooth travel. One of the foremost things you have to plan for is your camping destination. Here is a rundown of few of the many campground options:

  1. Glacier Basin – This place, located in the West of Estes Park, is suitable for both tent camping and RV camping. Its attractions include the Longs Peak, Trail Ridge Road, and horseback riding.
  2. Aspenglen Campground – Located along the Fall River west of Estes Park, this is also great for both tent and RV campers and provides the same attractions as the first campground mentioned.
  3. Eggleston Campground – Nestled in the east of Grand Junction camping area, this place is ideal for tent camping. You can also park your RV but there are no hookups available. Enjoy the nearby attractions that include Eggleston Lake, Grand Messa, and The town of Grand Junction.
  4. Central Rocky Mountains – In this area of Colorado, you will find the most splendid views of the state. You can enjoy in various national parks and forests such as the White River National Forests and the Rocky Mountain National Park.

Follow all the rules

Like most camping destinations, Colorado has its own set of rules and regulations that you have to know about so that you will not encounter a problem. Because of its rich natural resources, it is only right that this state does everything to protect Mother Nature. Be sure to familiarize yourself with rules that every park has.

Practice using your camping gear at home

Whether it is your Coleman grill or camping tents, you need to familiarize yourself with all your camping equipment at home and not at the actual campground. Practice pitching your camping tents weeks before the camping trip and use the Coleman grill at home to cook some delectable burgers or barbecue.

Prepare for the weather

It is important to keep in mind that Colorado has unpredictable weather. Even if you are camping during summer, you have to be prepared for unexpected rainfall. It would also be a good advice to dress in layers so that you can adjust your clothing accordingly to the temperature.

Always have a plan B

Not everything you plan will go well, it is always a great idea to have a plan B in case something goes wrong. Make a list of all the other campgrounds in Colorado where you can take refuge just in case you find out that the amenity you are looking for is not present in the current campsite you are in.

Most importantly, enjoy! This is probably the best tip you will ever get. Sometimes, campers get so engrossed with all the tasks to do that they forget the most vital thing, which is to relax and have fun.
